If you want your kids to enjoy reading and connect it to real life, Literary Adventures for Kids offers a fun way for kids and teens experience a new book with a hands on twist.
Do your kids struggle to enjoy reading? Literary Adventures for Kids might be just what you need! This online book club transforms reading from a chore into a magical adventure, engaging children through interactive activities and making literature come alive.
As a mom of nine kids, I’ve had some kids who loved reading and others who really struggled. It was like pulling teeth to get them to read. From bribery to consequences, nothing seemed to ignite that spark of joy for reading. I WANTED them to love reading but no amount of wanting would make this translate for them! As an English major in college, I always loved books so it was hard for me to imagine having kids that didn’t love it the way I did!
Over the years, I found that the love of reading was unlocked by different things for each kid. One loved to read fantasy. Another enjoyed audio books. One son engaged with reading the best in a classroom and others loved the hands on projects. My daughter who loves shopping learned to read and immediately wanted to head to the bookstore to start filling up her shelves.
Once a child or teen starts to love reading, it can be easy to look back and see, “Oh…THAT was what worked.” But in the mean time it can feel like throwing spaghetti at a wall to see what sticks.
Recently, I had a chance to review some amazing book clubs through Literary Adventures for kids. I wasn’t really sure what to expect. After all, my idea of a “book club” was a more like a gathering of moms in someone’s living room!
I was delighted by what I found inside and think you will too.

What My Kids & I Loved About Literary Adventures for Kids Online Book Club
I have two kids who participated in the Literary Adventures for Kids program. So far we have only done one book as we were using it in the summer, but I can’t wait to settle into the school year to make use of our Literary Adventures Clubhouse with unlimited self-paced and live book clubs. My 4th grader LOVES reading and will be able to do most of this independently!
The book we chose to dive into was Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs which is perfect for elementary kids. I don’t know how many times we have read this book…a lot…so many times.
But in all those lessons, we have never looked at the vocabulary, done a rabbit trail adventure to explore the weather, learned about a career as a weatherman or made a barometer. All of that is in this this one little book club!
Live book clubs are paused for the summer so we didn’t do those but I’m including the complete live list for the school year. My kids will definitely be joining it.
They are included in the Literary Adventures Clubhouse which you can do month to month of for the whole school year.
Using Literary Adventures for Kids in a Homeschool Co-op
The core of our family’s homeschool experience is usually centered on a homeschool co-op our outside program. We enjoy the structure and accountability of an outside group. So I was curious how this program would work in a homeschool group. Here are the ideas that I came up with.
Individual courses are reasonably priced and would be a great way to learn literature together in a group without over burdening a teach.
1. Choose individual self-paced book clubs to study together in a homeschool class. These would work well for a short-term elective
2. Add self-paced book clubs to supplement a language arts class. Students can work on part of the literature in class but most of the work could be done at home.
