Getting kids and teens moving doesn’t have to mean heading to the gym or signing up for sports leagues. Sometimes, all it takes is a little creativity, some fresh air, and a game like Backyard Bingo!

Why Physical Activity Matters

With the increasing pull of screens and sedentary lifestyles, it’s more important than ever to encourage regular physical activity—especially for kids and teens. Movement supports healthy growth, boosts mood, strengthens muscles and bones, and even improves focus and sleep. But the best kind of movement? The kind that feels like play.

That’s where Backyard Bingo comes in.

What Is Backyard Bingo?

Backyard Bingo is a simple and engaging outdoor activity that turns physical fitness into a game. It’s perfect for solo play, small family groups, or even larger gatherings like homeschool co-ops, birthday parties, or summer camps. You can easily print out several unique Bingo cards and let the fun begin!

Each square on the Bingo card lists a solo physical activity, like jumping jacks, push-ups, skipping, or shadow boxing. The center square is a FREE SPACE, just like classic Bingo. Players complete activities and mark off each square as they go.

How To Play

Each child (or team) gets a Backyard Bingo card. (There are 6 different cards included) To play, they complete the activities on the card, marking off each one as it’s done. The goal is to complete a full row—horizontally, vertically, or diagonally—for “BINGO!” You can keep the game simple or add variations: race to see who finishes a row first, time how long it takes to complete the whole card, or award small prizes for each Bingo achieved. It’s endlessly customizable and can be played again and again.

Group-Friendly and Low Prep

One of the best things about this game is how easily it adapts to different group sizes and settings. It’s an excellent solution for:

  • Homeschool groups
  • PE class alternatives
  • Birthday party activities
  • Youth group icebreakers
  • Family fun days

No special equipment is needed—just a printed Bingo card, a little space to move, and kids who are ready to have fun!
