One of the easiest ways to help our children learn about and understand other cultures is through Around the World Stories audio curriculum.
Growing up, I enjoyed hearing stories about my dad traveling around the world during his time in the U.S. Navy. Then when I was in high school and college, I had the chance to travel to Honduras, China, Hong Kong, Ireland, England, France, Germany and more. I studied at Oxford for a summer and visited our former exchange students in Germany. It was a time full of wonderful adventures.
I always wanted my kids to grow up with an appreciation for different cultures despite the fact that we couldn’t fly all over the world and we live in a small farming community. I wanted them to appreciate that there was more.
For our family that has meant we learn about holidays around the world, make foods from other countries, enjoy trying “weird” things at ethnic restaurants, order snack boxes from other countries and hang out with international students.

How We Use Stories Around The World
With 9 kids in our family, we have never been able to take trips around the world while they were young. Instead we immersed ourselves in different cultures by meeting people from other countries, cooking and trying ethnic foods, learning about other cultures and much more.
What I love about Around the World Stories is that all of that curation has been done for you. Simply choose which country to learn about each month and then take a deep dive for a week or two and learn all the fun things about that country.
My kids enjoy listening to the stories while they are doing something else…coloring one of the included pictures, playing with slime, or chilling on the couch. For each unit we pick a few activities to round out the learning about that country.
In my opinion, you could use this curriculum as a thorough geography curriculum or as a supplemental resource. I use it more as a supplemental resource and don’t try to do every activity. For me it is such a huge stress relief to know my kids are learning geography…but its not another thing for me to do too.
They can do it mostly independently. It fits right into the daily flow…Math, Language Arts, Science, Geography and History.
My kids like to save it until the last bit of schoolwork because it feels more like a reward than school!
The most common way we do geography is by listening to the stories and talking about what they learn.
But…after that, we follow their interests. My son will often ask me to print a coloring page. Or when he was listening to Poland, he asked me what Pierogi’s are. I think I’ll grab some next time we go to the store!

What I LOVE About Stories Around The World
I love that Around the World Stories makes it possible to travel…without leaving your home. I can’t overstate the value of this enough!!
When I was 17, I went on my first international trip to Honduras which was followed by many trips after that to China, Macau, England, France, Germany, and Ireland. I had the opportunity to study at Oxford in England when I was in college.
Travel is one of the BEST ways to understand that the way we live in America is NOT the same as the rest of the world. Different cultures, languages and traditions cause people to do many things differently…but it is very hard to understand that when you live in your own culture.
When I was in high school we had 2 foreign exchange students from Germany. We learned so much about their lives living in East Germany…and then in West Germany. We learned how much things cost their, how their education system differed from ours, what foods that ate a lot of and what things they valued.
As our kids have grown up, we have consistently sought out opportunities to learn about other cultures…but it is hard when you live in a small farmtown away from more diverse community.

Ways We Integrate Culture Into Our Home:
- Get to know exchange students
- Become friends with international students
- Try foods from other countries
- Celebrate and learn about holidays from other countries
- Use Around the World Stories in our homeschool!
It’s hard to express how important it is to expose our kids to other cultures. When I meet people from other countries, they often tell me…”You seem to know a lot about ___________________.” It’s always something from their country or religion. I don’t actually know a lot. I’m still a mom living in a small farm town. But I have spent a lifetime being curious about other cultures and asking questions.
Now I see that in my adult children. They love to travel to other countries. They are welcoming to people from other countries. They have adventurous tastebuds and genuinely enjoy people who are different than them. It is really amazing to see how cultivating that when they were young has led to such great choices as adults.
When I was offered the opportunity to try Around the World Stories, I was genuinely interested. Now that we have used it for awhile, I’m a huge raving fan. This platform has curated exactly what you need to integrate geography and culture into your home….easily and in a way that makes sense for kids.
Right now this feels like a homeschool decision…but it’s actually a choice to raise adults who value other cultures.

Who Is Around The World Stories Perfect For?
Around the World Stories is perfect for a few different types of families. I rarely say a curriculum is perfect for everyone….but this is one case where I might make an exception! Honestly…if you are looking for geography that is more than geography…check this one out. If you are a family that values learning that goes beyond checking a box…and that will stick with your kids, this resource is for you.
Families and Kids This is Great For:
- Kids with diverse learning styles (tons of audio and hand’s on learning…plus videos too)
- Busy moms who want learning that works independently or on the go
- Families who prioritize culture
- Unschooling families who want structured resources to make learning easy
- Great for all ages…even for parents!
Around the World Stories is one of those resources that makes it really easy to bring global learning into your homeschool—without adding a bunch of extra work to your day. It’s designed to help you raise curious, globally-minded kids in a way that actually feels fun.

Right now, there are 21 countries to explore, and you can choose any one that sparks your child’s interest. Each country includes four engaging 30-minute audio stories that follow the life of a child who lives there. These aren’t dry lessons—they’re story-driven, which means your kids naturally pick up on how children around the world live, play, eat, learn, celebrate, and interact with nature…all while being entertained.
And because it’s story-based, it weaves in bigger ideas like kindness, respect, generosity, and understanding in a really natural way.
Beyond the stories, each country also comes with hands-on extras like cultural activities, simple recipes, coloring pages, fun facts, and insights into the country’s traditions and history—so you can easily turn listening time into a fuller learning experience if you want to.
Everything is written for kids ages 5–11, and it’s flexible enough to fit into real life.
The program works on a simple subscription model—you get one ticket each month, and each ticket unlocks a country of your choice. If you’d rather plan ahead, there’s also an option to grab 12 tickets at once.
